The Palmerston Garden Committee Needs Your help!

Hello all,

Thanks to the families who came out last week to help us re-plant our tulip bulbs and/or move a few clumps of Solomon’s Seal (polygonatum biflorum) to a better spot! It’s been great spending time together in the newly refurbished front school garden.

Garden update:

We are planning a big planting day to fill up our reconfigured garden beds with more native plants that will provide diverse blooms all year round, give our students lots to learn about, and support local biodiversity at the same time! This event was originally planned for the fall but the garden committee, community reps and TDSB partners have made the decision to move the planting event to spring 2024.

In the meantime, the garden committee will continue to host our weekly work parties every Wednesday 5pm-7pm until Nov. 1.

Please wear closed-toed shoes, bring water as it is forecasted to be steamy, and BYO-trowel if you have one!

Just a reminder that our weekly stewardship evening is very much open to families, however we require that children be supervised by their grown up(s) while in the garden.

In addition we are also making plans for revitalizing the veggie garden in Kindergarten area in the spring.

If you have a green thumb and would like to be consistently involved in the Garden Committee and volunteer your time, please reach out to palmerstongardencommittee@gmail.com

Thank you!
